Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
She did it a few times at 5 months. Then one day, she cried because she didn't like it and has never done it again....We work with her every day but nothing. She'll play on her belly and turn herself around on her belly, roll side to side while holding her feet on her back, and even wind up backwards in her crib but NO rolling. She is even trying to rock on all fours and doing much better sitting up.
Do any of you have any sure-fire ways to get her to do it?? Are we doing something wrong??

no help here, Clover hasn't started rolling at all. She HATES to be on her belly but sits pretty well.
She'll do it when she's ready. Keep doing what your doing, she'll eventually do it.

She'll def do it when she's ready and then she'll do it back to belly and belly to back like it's nothing
A was like that, then around 7-8 months, she was rolling everywhere.
I wouldn't force it though

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
One thing I have learned in the last 19 months is that they will do it when they are ready...on their own terms and in their own time.
Johnny didn't roll over until 6 or 7 months!! (It was late, i remember thinking that the other kids did it so much earlier).
Then one day it just happened. And he was walking at a little after 9 months! It had no bearing on future development, its all of a matter of them making the connection when they're ready.
Don't stress!!

Logan had no desire to roll.
He didn't REALLY roll until he was scooting at about 8 months.
I think he felt there was no benefit to it until it could get him somewhere...LOL.
At almost 11 months now he is crawling and cruising like a maniac.
I don't think not rolling slowed him down one bit.

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
My son learned to roll over (belly to back) almost a month ago, and he did it a lot initially. Now though, almost never. He's done it a couple times in the last two weeks, but I don't think he likes it.
I leave him on his belly a little longer to see if he will roll himself over, though generally he does not. When it seems he has had too much, I get him started, but let him finish the roll. I figure he'll pick it up again in time.

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
Please don't be concerned at all! Michael wouldn't roll for nothing! We tried tummy time and even standing up on our heads (j/k) to get him to roll over and he just could care less! Then one day lo and behold he flipped and has been doing it ever since! He is doing it both ways and is getting up to crawl! So please don't be alarmed, she'll do it when she is ready! By the way she is absolutely adorable! I just want to kiss her up!

My DS will even push back against me at times when he doesn't want to roll. But i think the key is just keeping up with it. I try putting light up toys in front of him then when he brings his hands up to grasp it i slowly move it to the side .
Now he is rolling on occassion. Which is more than last week
My DS also likes really cool mats to look at. And i noticed he is more ept to roll when he is on his mat with fishes on it as opposed to just a plain blanket.

Aww, thanks Sylvia!
Thanks everyone...I feel a little better now. She has her alphabet foam mat that we usually try it on and seems to spend more time rubbing her fingers over the different textures in the mats!

Another stubborn non-roller here. Emilia is 5 months and has no desire to roll. She will go on her side, grab her feet but no rolling yet.

This is very comforting to hear that it all works out on its own! I know that we should not be worried about milestones but somewhere in the back of my mind, I always wonder if I am doing enough to help him (DS is 4.5 mos old).

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
My little one rolled over a few times around 5 months and that was it. We were getting concerned but then around 7 - 71/2 months she just started rolling like crazy. Dont worry, it will happen when they are ready!

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
My dd rolls from back to belly and then screams. Last night in crib she kept rolling on to belly and then scream, so after the 100th time i just let her be, and she rolled back to her back.. but then rolled to belly again and screamed.
At least your dd is doing rock on all fours. my dd isnt Im starting to get worried.

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
I agree that they do things when they want to. DD rolled twice at one month and then didn't roll again until 5.5 months.
I never thought I would say this, but enjoy the fact that your DC can stay put so to speak. ONce they start rolling, they realize they can move around like that. DD used to roll across a room before she crawled

Re: Stubborn non-roller at 6 months.....
Im in the same boat. My DS CAN roll, I even have it on tape, but he just doesnt want to. He gets around enough going in circles and pushing with his feet to make him happy I guess.
Ped was not concerned.
