i would think however, if it is related to vitamin depletion - if you take proper vitamins, you can prevent this? or at least the increased risk?

hmmm....since mine are 13 months apart i guess they are at risk according to this.
But suprisingly i know alot of people who have Irish Twins- 11 months apart and don't have autism.
I still think there are soo many unknowns out there that nothing is beyond being a consideration for risk.

I don't bother with ANY of these studies anymore.
I am one of 6. All considered irish twins. My mom is one of 8..irish twins as well...no autism in the family.
I hate to think that so many frivolous studies are being done when they could be really concentrating on the genetic/environmental aspect that concerns so many parents.

Re: Study - Spacing babies close raises autism risk
I think the key to this is that they say that its still ultimately 1% which is (unless I read it wrong) still the national average. But having close siblings give you more of a chance of being in that 1%. but not a 100% sure bet youre going to either have an autistic child.
I do think that the fact of low vitamin levels and higher awareness play a huge factor. Parents with more than one child ALWAYS see the differences between the way the older developed vs the younger. Its human nature. So sure they are going to be reporting and getting assistance for them faster.
Overall... interesting.
My take aways are: If you want to have them close, bump up your vits
