Study on Flu Vaccine Effectiveness
Did anyone see this? I thought it was interesting. The study concluded that for the two year time period they studied that the flu vaccine in babies 6-59 mo did NOT reduce the number of flu related hospitalizations or ped visits in that age group. In all fairness they say that the flu strain was not matched well for both of these years but, that is something you never know until the season is over right? Anyway I thought this was interesting in light of the fact that NJ makes in mandatory!

Re: Study on Flu Vaccine Effectiveness
The flu vaccine only covers specific strands of the virus...last years strand that was going around was not the same that many people were getting sick with, hence, it didn't work.

This study (although just published this month) did not study last year - it studied 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. I didn't know that about last year though so I guess you can add 2007-2008 to the list! I don't know about 2006-2007...
