Stupid and random post - Re: Star Trek
Ok so DH is far from a "Trekkie" but he DVR's Star Trek. Should I be a tad too lazy to lift my rear from the couch, I am subject to watch along with him.
So I'm thinking that I may be over 40 years too late (pretty funny considering I am only 37), but I just don't get it. I find the show creepy as all hell. The characters speak with very little emotion and inflection. And for some reason, I am just waiting for Captain Kirk to blurtout "Denny Crane."
Can someone explain how this poorly produced TV program became a phenomenon? I for one watch like this:

My father LOOOOVED this show. I hated it forever - but now I think it is HILARIOUS. I have made friends watch it and spend the entire time mocking everyone and everything!

Ya wanna know what's funny? The only thing I learned from Star Trek it is that the Vulcan Salute was actually derived from a Jewish priestly blessing. I only know this because my family comes from that tribe in the faith and it makes the same gesture.

It WASN'T popular when it first came out. Very few people liked it. It was canceled fairly quickly.

I love Star Trek  . The trouble with tribbles is my favourite. It was ahead of its time with the colour and all. Back then they loved to watch anything with colour. There wasn't much choice.
I also love Bonanza as well.

Different strokes for different folks. I honestly have no idea why SATC is so popular.....
I love a lot of campy shows. The way they all lean to one side when they get hit by something, the way Bones always says "Dammit Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a <fill in the blank>". The way Kirk hits on anything considered female on that planet....

I saw him in an interview years and years ago - he said the female guest stars were the only thing he remembered from the show.

i love star trek i think because i was forced to watch as a child since my father liked it
the appeal is the campiness, yes there was not good acting on the show but thats why trekkies love it and all the different props they used were really ordinary objects
there is some good trivia about the show
