Stupid Check/Bank Question
DH and I both have separate checking accounts and a joint savings account at TD Bank. DH gave me a check that was made out to him to deposit into my checking account. He doesn't need to do anything but sign it right?

Re: Stupid Check/Bank Question
As long as he signs the back of the check and then you sign below him it should be fine. If they don't let you, you could always deposit the check into your joint savings and them transfer money from the savings to your checking as long as you have enough money available in the savings before depositing the check since it could take a few days to clear.

Re: Stupid Check/Bank Question
That's what I thought. I'm pretty sure I've done it before, but not since we got married and first opened it so I'm a little rusty. Thanks!

Yupp, I did. They don't double endorse anymore. Pains in my arse. I didn't want to put it in there because it's money for our trip next week and I wanted to just have it on my debit card. But oh well, I just transferred cash from our joint to my checking and ended up at the same place. Thanks!

For some reason my online banking at TD doesn't work! NEVER has. They've reset my password a thousand times and it never works. Not a big deal though, I already took care of it this morning. But thanks!

Who doesn't double endorse anymore? That's hogwash.
The bank can try to make whatever policies they want, but they still have to follow the UCC code and UCC clearly states that banks MUST accept checks that are properly endorsed.
