Stupid Grocery shopping question...

Today, I had my stash of coupons and normally, I weed out the ones that I actually have a product for. Today, I didn't have time, so I just handed her my stack to hold onto. And then...she scanned and scanned and scanned. She scanned all of them. So my question is this. Does it really matter what products you have coupons for? Chat Icon Can I just give the cashier random coupons?

if you don't have the product they usually don't scan. sometimes i have seen the cashier look through the receipt to see if i actually bought it. You got lucky!

I think "technically" you're supposed to only give coupons of the products that you're actually purchasing. Sounds like your cashier gave you a lil' break today!!!

Chat Icon Or maybe I'm naive to even think this? This is coming from a person who never uses coupons... I'm wondering now, too!

Me too. I've had ones give me crap about things I DID BUY and insist I didn't buy it, even after I show them!

That is true. If you don't have the item the coupon usually doesn't scan.
I had a cashier give me back the coupon because I only bought one of an item when you have to buy two.

wait, I am trying to picture this.

so you purchase some items and then hand the cashier a stack of coupons and was like, Did I buy any of this stuff?

What kind of game is that? Chat Icon

Yes, "normally" you have to actually buy the items you have coupons for.
I've also had to go digging through my bags many time to "prove" to a cashier that I bought the item, and that it was the correct size, weight, etc what a PIA!
