Re: Stupid question, but I really need to know
Buffalo wings, wings or chicken wings are chicken wing sections (called flats and drums), deep fried, and coated in sauce. Although many variations on this sauce exist, the original "Buffalo" sauce is composed of only five ingredients: cayenne pepper sauce, white vinegar, butter, salt, and garlic. When using a prepared hot sauce of vinegar and cayenne pepper, the recipe is simply a mixture of hot sauce and melted butter. Most wings are prepared without breading, although this style is not exclusive. Buffalo wings are named after the city of Buffalo, New York where they originated, and the appellation "buffalo" is now commonly applied to foodstuffs other than wings that are seasoned with the sauce or close variations on it.

Yes I guess so......my Mom makes them and when she buys them, she has to cut the little drumsticks from the wing..

Re: Stupid question, but I really need to know
All Chicken is YOUNG ....
Broiler-fryer chickens are young birds that are about 7 weeks old and weight 2 to 5 pounds. The average is about 3 pounds. Allow about 1/2 pound for each serving.
Roasting chickens are usually about 10 weeks old and weight over 5 pounds. Allow about 1/2 pound for each serving.
Capons are neutered male chickens. They have a fat layer under the skin that ensures tender meat even though the birds are larger. Capons are about 16 weeks old and weight 5 to 9 pounds. Allow about 1/2 pound for each serving.
Cornish game hens are special hybrid birds, about 4 to 5 weeks old and weighing 1 to 1-1/2 pounds. Allow 1/2 bird per serving.
Stewing hens are usually more than 10 months old and have stopped laying eggs. Weighing between 3 and 7 pounds, stewing hens are tougher than younger birds, but they are flavorful and delicious cooked with moist heat in soups and dishes such as chicken and dumplings.
Free-range chickens are birds that are allowed to fly the coop. Factory-raised birds are generally allotted 1 square foot of space per bird. Free-range chickens are allowed more space indoors and are allowed to roam outdoors, too. They're also fed a special all-grain diet free of antibiotics, animal products, hormones, and growth enhancers. The diet and extra movement mean the chicken grows more slowly than a factory-raised bird, making the meat leaner and giving it a deeper flavor and denser texture -- and a higher price tag.

Re: Stupid question, but I really need to know
I hate making them. You just buy a package of chicken wings and cut them at the joint. No special chicken required. Just a sharp knife and some elbow grease.
