stye in my eye
Anything I can do for it other than warm compresses until it goes away?
Also... (this is gross...) I've heard it will "come to a head and drain" -- is this nearly as awful as it sounds?!
I'm afraid my eye will start draining at work or something. (EW! )
I've never heard of one draining before...

Re: sty in my eye
there's some sty stuff OTC that you can try. I've never had a sty drain.
Hope it gets better soon.

Re: sty in my eye
I take a Q-tip and put it under REALLY hot water from the tap and then put it directly on the sty. This seems to work better than the compress, maybe because it's being applied more directly. I try this a few times a day and it usually goes away in a day or two.
If the sty does drain, I think it is gradual and you probably don't even notice it.

Re: sty in my eye
I make a hot compress with a regular tea bag -- it seems to help.

UUghh! That is the worst feeling!
I agree with the warm Q-tip. As annoying as it is, those stubborn little things go away faster than you know think.

Re: sty in my eye
Be careful not to spread it to your other eye. Hands off! And ditch your eye makeup if you used it on your stye eye this morning.
The stuff you get at the drugstore (called "stye") isn't a medicine; it's a lubricant you put on the stye so that it isn't painful to blink. It does help. Hot compresses do too, and putting a warm tea bag on the affected area makes it feel a lot better (something about the caffeine of the tea opens your blood vessels and speeds up healing, i think. it also feels nice).
I've had several, and they take about 2 or 3 days to go away. No draining/popping, they just get smaller and go away like a pimple on your face would. Feel better!

Re: sty in my eye
My husband told me about the eye makeup, so that's getting tossed.
I can't tell you how good those hot q-tips and compresses are.

Re: stye in my eye
I have had them and whenver I feel one coming on, I buy the OTC product called
STYE. You can get it in the drugstore by the first aid aisle.
Works for me every time.
