success rate with iui/meds/injects
HI all, had a few questions..i am new to all this and was hoping to get an idea of what my success will be with each of the above..i was pretty regular until a few months ago when my cycles went from 28 to 40 plus days..now almost 50! My DH is fine except low morph of about 9% normal... Doc is going to run CD3 bloodwork on me and other stuff next week when AF comes...i was wondering what you would do if you could do it over again!! I dont have any insurance coverage except for diagnostics so i have to do a HSG this month..no iui or ivf coverage..i guess it could be worse!! He is going to start me on clomid prob to get my cycles going-or to see if it will work but i just wonder what my success will be with iui or if im wasting my time??? Thanks for any feedback...

Anytime I see long cycles I think insulin resistance. They will probably give you a 2 hr fasting glucoise tolerance test. They will also check fsh, LH and estrogen. If you do have PCOS you may want to try clomid and/or metformin. Another poster said she did natural IUI wilth no trigger and it was $350 for the procedure so that could be a next step. GL!

Re: success rate with iui/meds/injects
I think your success rate with iui/meds/injects will depend on blood tests and HSG. For example if you find out you have a blocked tube from the HSG your success rates would be drastically lower.
As for costs, my IUI with sperm wash was $305. But I hope your insurance will cover the blood work, office visits and sono's as they add up.
Don't get ahead of yourself. Take one step at a time. It might just take being on clomid to regulate your ovulation.
Good Luck!

Re: success rate with iui/meds/injects
it is interesting because i have had all blood done in Aug and all was normal with my obgyn and as far as Insulin resistance goes i have a great lipid profile etc...really high HDL and 50 Tg's so i have to wonder? I have not had a fasting glucose test done so maybe there is something there even though my cholesterol is great...i guess i should relax a little!

Cholesterol and insulin resistance aren't really related. So you could have great numbers for hdl/ldl but still be insulin resistant. When you had the shorter cycles were they when your first came off BCP?
I haven't done iui yet, I have only done timed intercourse with met/clomid. If there are no other problems, this may be something you want to try before IUI.
