Successful pregnancies with a short luteal phase?
hey ladies,
DH and i just started TTC last month with OPKs, and i just started charting along with OPKs this month. from what i can tell, i'm thinking that my luteal phase is on the short side - 11-12 days max, but probably 11. i'm concerned that this is going to be an issue for me, but i've been reading conflicting things.
so, i was wondering, did any of you conceive and carry a pregnancy with a short luteal phase? did you have to get any treatment?
THANKS!
alex

Re: Successful pregnancies with a short luteal phase?
I charted for two cycles... in my first cycle, I had a 10 day luteal phase, and on my second cycle I tested positive on 11 days past ovulation. I also ovulated very late (day 25), but I don't know if that has anything to do with a shorter luteal phase.
I'm 16 weeks pregnant now... good luck to you!!!

Mine was 9-10 days and I thought it might be a problem, but it wasn't! Good Luck

Re: Successful pregnancies with a short luteal phase?
According to Taking Charge of Your Fertility a short luteal phase is less than 10 days, so it sounds like you are still OK. It mentions Clomid, HCG injections, progesterone suppositories and OTC progesterone creams, but also says to consult with your DR before trying anything.

Re: Successful pregnancies with a short luteal phase?
After I came off the pill - a few months before ttc - I charted for a few months and noticed that my LP was also kind of short. I let my doctor know and he performed a endometrial biopsy which came back borderline. They wanted to repeat it but then I became pg in my first month of ttc. So the doctor put me on preogestore suppositories just in case and well here I am in the final stretch.
I don't know if I ever did have a real luteal phase defect or if it was an after effect of the pill.
Oh I also took vitamin B6 supplements b/c I read that it helps!
Good luck!

Re: Successful pregnancies with a short luteal phase?
I had a short LP. I didn't ovulate until close to CD20 and I always got AF around CD28-30.
I took B Complex to help extend my LP. It worked!!! After a month or 2 of B Complex I O'd at CD 15 and got my BFP!!!
Good luck

Definitely true. I have low progesterone and at one point my LP was around 11 days. i also started to get spotting before y AF. I am on B complex and proigesterone gel and my LP is now 13-14 days. Try B complex-it is over the counter and any extra you take is excreted in your urine
