sucking on hands putting hands in mouth- is it always a hunger cue?
Bryan puts his hands in his mouth alot- he is 2.5 months old he brings together his 2 hands and puts them in his mouth he also puts toys and blankets and stuff in there to and is content with sucking on them- does this still mean that he is hungry-- sometimes he does it after eating so I dont think he is but every one keeps telling me that he is hungry when he puts his hand in his mouth- how can that be?

He could be starting teething. The pain and need to **** on things starts well before the first tooth pops through. Also, I've read that babies do a lot of learning by putting things in their mouths.
Sarah puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. When she's playing all the toys go right in her mouth and when she's tired she ***** on her thumb. She doesn't really **** on her hands/thumb when she's hungry, she gets more fussy.
Go with your gut. In spite of all the "helpful" advice everyone wants to give a new mom, you know your baby better than anyone. You know his personality and you know his usual signs that he's hungry/tired/etc. When MIL visits she's always telling me I'm wrong when I say that Sarah is hungry or tired but I've learned to just ignore her and scoop Sarah up and feed her or put her down for a nap anyway.

I dont think it could just be for hunger reasons. I think they "discover" that they have hands and like to "explore"...that is natural

I agree with everyone else. Nate was like that by 2 months.... If you're not careful he'll put your hands in his mouth. We call him "Juicy" now bc he drools all the time.

I would say teething as well. Logan is constantly shoving his hands down his throat. He started this behavior at about 2 months...

I would say exploring as well. The figure out tir hands and fingers can go in their mouth and do it all the time. Kevin started around 2.5-3 months doing that. Around 3.5 months he started teething (although at 7.5 months still doing it and no teeth) and he would gnaw on his fingers more viciously and drooling all over.

I agree. Jake has been doing this alot more lately when I know he isn't hungry. He seems to be having fun. He shoves them in his mouth, then takes them out and looks at them then does it again. He's usually quite content when he's doing this, not fussing at all. I think his hands are his favorite toy right now!
