Sudden Onset Diaper Rash
On Wednesday, DH changed DD's diaper at @ 5:30 PM and she was fine. At 7:30 PM she had a diaper rash that was so severe it was bleeding. By this morning it was nothing more than a pink dot smaller than a dime.
Today, after I got her home and fed her, I changed her diaper and the raging rash with bleeding is back.
Any ideas on what could be causing it? I would have taken her to the ped on Thursday morning if the rash had been as bad as it was Wednesday night, but it substantially cleared up overnight.

Re: Sudden Onset Diaper Rash
Kaydyn gets this every once in a while. We are transitioning to milk and we realized she cannot process lactic acid very well...so when she poops it literally burns her skin and she gets really bad/bleeding rashes. Overnight we put the Huggies overnight diapers on and it's usually pretty much gone in the morning.
Is she eating anything consistently before this happens? That's the only thing I can think of.

No. She didn't eat anything today that she had on Wednesday.

Does she have a problem with dairy? That's what causes Kaydyn's rashes primarily.

I originally thought that was the problem, but she didn't have any dairy on Wednesday at all. Not even as a minor ingredient in something she ate.

Then maybe her skin is just super sensitive. Kaydyn has very fair/very sensitive skin. I am sorry I can't be of more help....it's horrible when they get bad rashes like that

Caden hasnt had many diaper rashes. But the few that he has had have been pretty bad.
Usually what happens to him is that something will trigger the diaper rash....not enough fluids, diarrhea, illness, an offending food.
Then we spend a few days of trial and error trying to cut out any foods that may be irritating an already sore tush.
In Miss M's case it may be a compound issue. She has had a lot of acidic foods this week. Maybe too much sauce? Then the half a grapefruit probably didnt help either...no one food being solely to blame.

IDK . . . the whole thing on Wednesday with her going from perfectly fine to red, raw and bleeding in two hours has me very worried. And then to have it essentially cleared up only to have it reappear yesterday just adds to the concern.

Re: Sudden Onset Diaper Rash
DD has the same rash right now. I actually just told DH not to panic if he sees some blood on her diaper as the sores are bleeding a bit. For us, we just got back from Florida and this started a few days ago. I think it was the milk down there or the water becuase DD has NEVER in her almost 17 months of life had a diaper rash before. My guess is the milk because she had Diareaha the past couple days too. Hope she gets better soon!!

Re: Sudden Onset Diaper Rash
It *might* possibly be a sensitivity to something she's eaten.
Madelyn developed sudden rashes that would get ANGRY looking. Then clear up. At first I thought she was just sensitive. Finally after dealing with it for 2 months I had her tested for more food allergies (she already had a confirmed dairy allergy) and it turnd out she had an allergy to BEEF.
Once we cut all beef out of her diet, she has never had one of those "flash rashes" again.

Ooooo, you might be onto something! She uses sauce from a jar. Maybe there is something in it that she is reacting to! I'll have to check the ingredients.

Re: Sudden Onset Diaper Rash
Tomatos are very acidic- if she had sauce, that might be it.
