Suggestions for a new mom?
My BF just gave birth to her baby girl last night and I wanted to send a gift basket to her house. I'd like to forgo the flowers and balloons and get her something she would appreciate during her maternity leave. Any suggestions? TIA!

~Homemade Coupons for you to watch the baby for an hour or two while she naps.
For me....food and sleep were the most critical needs in the beginning. Oh and an organized house (DH was straightening up every day. I wanted a cleaning company, he said that we needed to learn how do it on our own).

Food or take out GCs like a pp suggested. When I came home with DS cooking, or even going out to get food, was the furthest thing from my mind, or DH's. Our parents kept bringing food to us thank god or we would have starved.

Food! Even if you make something homemade and freeze it. THAT was by far the best gifts given to me, DH & I had food covered for like 2.5 weeks, it was wonderful.

I agree with the PP. Food is the best gift. My MIL made us tons of meals for the first week and it was such a lifesaver.

Sounds good, food it is. My only difficulty is that I'm located in Suffolk and she's over in brooklyn so it would be hard for me to get gc's.
I was thinking of Wolfermans for an english muffin basket, but maybe I'm better off making foods that she can keep frozen refrigerted. Follow up to my question:
Any suggestions of what kind of meals I can make? The only thing that's coming to mind is lasagna and pulled pork.

One thing I really loved was a gift basket I got from my SIL from Earth Mama Angel Baby. It was the c-section healing basket and the new baby basket

I would give her a gift basket with things for the baby. Little toys, bath products, whatever else she has left over on her registry...

OMG... I totally agree with everyone else. FOOD! My colleagues sent a basket of bagels and muffins and my friend brought over veggie lasagna, salad, bread and chocolate chip cookies. It was the best day ever!!!!
