Suicide at 83?
I just read this, and couldn't believe how at that age, you would do such a thing.

maybe she couldnt handle life any longer 
I hate that people would choose this route though. My friend is a conductor and he has hit two people in his 8 years doing this who committed suicide and I have seen him such a MESS afterwards,
I think its awful to end your life but to force the hand of someone else to end it FOR you is even worse

I can believe it, my grandfather committed suicide when he was old, maybe 80. I was little and I just found out last year.....
It's very sad....

geriatrics have the 2nd highest rate of suicide. 14-21 year olds come in 1st! Sad

I can believe it. You would be surprised how many seniors are treated for depression. Also, in the beginning stages of Alzheimers (which my father had), people have moments of clarity and they realize their lives are changing - not for the better. They live in despair. Some are treated for it, while others could feasibly fall prey to what hurts them and take their own lives. It is truly sad.

Actually, I am pretty sure that is not true. Teens and geriatric suicides are the fastest growing. But the highest rate of "successful" suicides is between approximately 55-65.
