Sunrise Highway/Merge - Traffic yesterday
Does anyone know what happened?
It took me 45 minutes to get off Southern State and onto Conn. Ave.

It took DH 1.5 hours to get home....usually it takes 20 minutes.  He said he couldn't see anything.

There was a two car accident right right after the merge that took up two of the three lanes. It happened right at 5:15 and by 6:00 the cars were still there waiting for the tow trucks.

My mom asked how my day way. I told her it was good up until 5:30, but I bet someone elses day took a turn around 5:15!
Hope everyone was okay... and next time if they can wait about 2 miles, I'd appreciate it!

The traffic was still crazy @ 7. We were trying to get to the park and it was a nightmare

Yes, I passed it traveling west on sunrise at like 5:30 & I know 1 vehicle was a pickup and it was facing the center median, taking up 2 lanes. It didn't look like a bad accident from what I could see, not sure why they couldn't move to shoulder.. I hope nobody was hurt!

NO one was hurt.
The cops kept the lanes closed for over 2 hours waiting for the tow trucks.

WTH takes 2 hours for a tow truck? There wasn't a blizzard. I'm sure a bunch of guys would have gotten out of the cars and moved the car to at least 1 lane had they had know. That's just crazy. I wonder what the cop was thinking?

i hate that spot!!
not only did it back up sunrise but all the main roads around it.
dh took hours to get from lindenhurst to connetquot.
theres always accidents over there .

the town of East Islip was a nightmare around 6:15 - you couldn't go anywhere (on Montauk, carelton, connetquot or union without extensive delays!!)
