Super Frustrated.. Long and maybe TMI

My AF has been really weird the past 3-4 months and I was hoping you girls could shed some light.

I have always had long periods (normally 8 days long) but the last few months I have been bleeding for 12-13 days straight! I have dark and sometimes pinkish blood (and not as much of it) the first 6 or 7 days and then more red "period like blood" follows for the next 5 or 6 days.

It is really frustrating because I asked my doc about it and got a response of "maybe it has always been that way but you are noticing it more because you are TTC". Uhhhh FIRST of all I think I would remember bleeding for 2 weeks straight! and secondly I have been monitoring my period since January in anticipation of TTC and I have had perfect periods up until a few months ago.

I am just so upset because it makes me feel like something is really wrong with me and I will never get pregnant... My pap turned out normal so I know at least that is okay but what even counts as CD 1???? How am I supposed to even track my cycles when I have no clue what is going on with my body?? Has anyone even experienced anything remotely like this??

all i can suggest is maybe to get a second opinion from a doctor? maybe see what they have to say about it
