Supermarket home delivery...
does anyone do this? I just saw that Waldbaums does it, and while I don't think I'd do it all the time, there are times where it would come in so handy.

I've done Peapod (Stop & Shop's). It was great but if I don't order early enoug the delivery times are gone. THe butcher shop around the corner delivers. It's a great on those days were you've got a sick kid at home & find it difficult to get out.

Nah - before kids I used to work crazy hours. I would have done it then if it were available.

Re: Supermarket home delivery...
I have tried Fresh Direct, Pea Pod & Waldbaums. All three are great in terms of service.
Fresh Direct has the best meat and fresh veggies, not so much the fruit. Their selection of particular brands is somewhat limited. Very few great deals. The prices are comprable to my local Waldbaums but that's not saying much as my local waldbaum's a little more pricey then other ones. FD has great ready to eat meals & in home catering (one of my friends loves their stuff).
Waldbaums has free delivery for online orders and offers same day delivery. I was not super impressed with their meat selection but not dissatisfied either. They have the same deals as the store but I noticed some of the prices are higher (They had a BOGO on ground beef -- online it 5.49 a pound and in the store it was 4.29. I think the ground round is normally around 3.99 a #).
Peapod - they have better delivery windows. The meat is fine. The selection of products is good. The prices are reasonable and they offer their circular prices online. They take coupons which will be deducted from future orders and offer free delivery for the first order then send an email for 4 $5 off coupons for four future orders. The only negative is every order had something out of stock. They do have a subtitution feature but I elected not to accept subs. I am not sure what I would have received if I allowed them.
Overall all 3 are great and convenient services.

Re: Supermarket home delivery...
My Aunt did Peapod at Giant here in VA when she had her knee surgery... She said it was worth they charging her an extra $5 because she ended up spending so much less every week.

Re: Supermarket home delivery...
There is a lot of home deliery here in the UK, the only downside is that you don't get to pick your fruits and veggies, so you often get the dregs that the supermarket has in the overnight hours. Also, they do a lot of substitution, which isn't great if you want what you want.
I still LOVE going to the supermarket and doing my shop, its the one thing that makes me realise that I live in a different country on a daily basis! All the products still seem really European to me, even after 7 years!

The sub w/ peapod aren't so bad. My mom chose this option and when they were out of a certain size cereal they brought the same kind in a bigger size for the same price. So they will usually upgrade what ever they are out of.
