Supermarket vent
I was on line at the supermarket and my 3 mth DS was screaming. He was hungry and WILL NOT take a bottle. I have some stranger come up to me giving me dirty looks and says you know his hat is covering his eyes, that's why he's crying. I'm like no, his hat is always in his eyes and it doesn't seem to bother him, he's crying because he's hungry and won't take a bottle (and there is no where to feed him at the supermarket). She huffs off. Did I ask for your advice? Why do people think its ok to tell me why my son is crying and get upset with me for telling them they're wrong. I didn't realize you got to kno my son so well in 10 seconds.

Re: Supermarket vent
I'm sorry you had to deal with that idiot...
This is the second time in a few days that I have heard of a stranger making a comment about a crying/hungry baby....God help them if anyone says anything to me.

Re: Supermarket vent
First, I'm sorry some fool had to give you their two cents. It's very annoying, especially since this person wasn't trying to be helpful in a nice way from the sound of it.
I hate to be ageist, but was this person up there in years? The two nasty public encounters I've had with DS were both compliments of old women. One happened about a week ago--it was cold out and I took him for a walk. He was screaming all afternoon, and walks often calm him down. Anyway, this time it didn't work, and he kept screaming. We went a block and I was about to turn around and go home, when this old lady passing us said, "Your child is crying" in a very nasty tone. I said "Yes, I know I can hear."
Maybe she thought it was too cold for him to be out, I don't know.
Anyway, after reading your post, I'm picturing an old lady. To be fair, some have stopped to look at him, smile, and tell me what a beautiful baby he is also, so they aren't all foul.

I was going to ask the same thing. A few times, I have had seniors make some weird comments. One time I was VERY pregnant and on the self checkout with DH at Waldbaums, and this old man comes up to me and says, "I guess you guys didn't take biology in high school." I was like I have to turn away and he got the hint and left. I look really young so that is why he said that I guess.
It is still no excuse. People are idiots!

Re: Supermarket vent
I would say, Excuse me, you have NO idea what makes my son cry and what doesn't... So unless you want to come over at 2 in the morning and help out, I'd move the hell away right now!!!
