Supplements, etc. when TTC

I keep forgetting to ask my docs about this..

Do you think that taking things like Beano, or like Gas X is bad to take when TTC??

Also, my RE told me today to stop taking Vitex-- which I credit with shortening my cycles, but whatev. Just wanted to pass that along to others here.

i was recently talking to my doc about supplements and things along those lines....not for me but for Dave...

She said that with any type of supplement (and i'm talking melatonin here, things like that, herbs)....it's VERY dangerous.

Her example to me was the weight loss drug that recently killed people (i am TOTALLY blanking on the name)....she said that it was on the market for YEARS but had no attention until it started harming people.

Basically she was just getting to the point of you need to be careful of ANYTHING not regulated by the FDA.

My sister is a pharmacist and she told me that any sleep products are bad-- definitely melatonin b/c it screws with your fertility. I would do an interet search on each herb/vitamin/med that you take to see what is safe for TTC. Very few meds and herbs are safe for preg.
