You shouldnt be taking OPKs withn first morning urine. You dont use them the same way as HPTs. Read the directions for the OPKs and you will see it says to use them between 12noon and 8pm. You wont get accurate results if you dont use them the right way.

Good luck!

Re: Surge Line

Hi everyone. I took it again this morning, before reading this post, and the surge line was darker than the test line today, almost right away. I drink so much water during the day, that I don't trust it at night. Would that affect it? Do you think it is safe to say that I will be O soon? According to my chart I should between the 29th and the 3rd.

Re: Surge Line

I'm far from an expert on any of this, but this is just something I found online just now.

The best time to take an OPK is in the early afternoon, as 85% of women will surge between midnight and 8 am, and it then takes approximately 4-6 hours for the LH to reach the urine. 2 pm is a good time to test. First morning urine should not be used. Urine should be held for approximately 4 hours, and liquid intake should be limited prior to using an OPK so that the urine doesn't get too diluted.

My interpretation of this is the reason to test in the afternoon is that it may not show up in the AM for all people, but if it does, it is accurate.

Re: Surge Line

I am not sure if the morning is accurate - but I am new to this stuff, so maybe someone can give you better advice. I have always used them during the day. Sorry I can not be of help.

Re: Surge Line

I must say, .....a lot of products tell you different things :) The fertility monitor instructs you to test in the AM, some opks say afternoon and others say the same time every day lol It's a state of confusion. Basically, if you don't have pcos and you are not on a high dose of clomid...and your opk is positive, in the morning , noon or night...you are witnessing a surge :) I would definitely take it as a positive and enjoy bding...your temps will verify if it was correct or not. Each of us surge at different times. Anyway, Lurker...I replied to your fm, with my usual chapter lol

Re: Surge Line

I used to test at 2pm each month. When I started my IUI's I tested 2x a day to make sure I didnt miss the surge. I would test at 11am and about 6-7pm. I got the surge both times. I never used FMU though.

If I remember what a friend told me, you aren't supposed to drink any fluids for an hour or so before POAS. Ladies, is that right?

Yeah I tried not to drink much and held my pee as long as I could. You want your urine to be as concentrated as possible.
