Surgery is done!
Rj had his surgery on Friday and it went very well- had such a great experience at Mather Hospital- the nurses were great!
Turns out his tonsils were so much larger than we had thought- shouldve been a 30 and was actually an 80
Recovery hasnt been bad at all; I havent needed to give any of the RX pain medication- just some regular tylenol. He has not complained once about pain; and has been eating/drink wonderfully! I think the hardest part for him is the restricted diet and limitation with activities- he feels good and wants to eat, run, jump and play and cant
Im just wondering; for those who have been through this did your childs appetite change? Rj has never EVER been a good eater and well since the surgery he is eating me out of house and home Literally; he was the last one at the dinner table with seconds of EVERYTHING!
Also, when did they start to sleep better; since surgery snoring is way worse than EVER (like so loud, I cant even hear my television!) and he is not sleeping soundly at all... I thought this was supposed to make him sleep better

Glad to hear it went well! I have no experience but it seems like a good thing his appetite has increased.

Great news!!!!
I had mine out as a teenager. The main reason they were taken was bc I was getting sore throats. Like Ry, they said they were so much bigger then they anticipated and actually growing backwards. I can tell you that years later my sore throats continue. If you want to talk about apetite change, well I am a mighty fine eater so thats not an issue...LOL
I am glad to hear everything turned out great!

So happy to hear his surgery went well. My niece is dealing with this now, has been in and out of the hospital for 6 weeks now. She was supposed to have it today and it got cancelled again. I spent yesterday in the hospital with her and she was snoring like a freight train (she's 17 and suffering bad). The doctor mentioned she would be doing it for awhile even after her tonsils are removed - I think he said about a week and a half to 2 weeks for things to settle down.

She is going to do great!
Today is a week post op already!
Since normally he is at school and Im at work, we were able to use this time off to do things together- its been great!
Intially I gave him regular tylenol every 4hrs so he wouldn't be in pain; but he hasnt needed it in a few days. I just cant wait for him to get clearance to eat normal foods again; he is dying for some chicken nuggets, and pasta/sauce!
