Surrendering plates at the DMV...

How long should I expect to be there?

why don't you just transfer them to the new car

We were going to, but my original plates are in my maiden name, and the new car is in my married name, and the dealership can't transfer it over through a name change.

that's a good idea. if u turn the plates in, i don't think it should be long. i know the dmv on 34th and 8th ave in the city is an express dmv

I went as soon as it opened and it took an hour. They said it gets much more crowded around lunch time.

oh- that stinks- it sholdn't take long- I would give yourself an hour
