sushi

i know it's a no-no, but i was craving it SO BAD... and ppl were tell me that just a lil is okay, as long as it was prepared properly. so, i bit the bullet tonight for dinner.

now, i feel so rotten and guilty.................. and worried that i might've hurt the baby... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: sushi

You can eat cooked rolls as much as you want. Not all sushi is off limits.
I ate raw stuff a couple of times. If its from a reputable place you will be fine.
They are really just worried about you getting some kind of food poisoning from improperly handled fish not that sushi hurts the baby.
Don't stress yourself abou tit.

Re: sushi

I agree.. try to relax!!! You are just listening to your body. My docs were really lenient with this during my pregnancies, both dr's told me alittle of somethiing.. (obviously in moderationChat Icon ) Wont hurt you or the baby. The stress.. may.

Hang in there!

Re: sushi

I ate California Rolls and Dragon Rolls (cooked eel) during my pregnancy. As long as everything is cooked, you're all good.

Re: sushi

I ate it a couple of times. I tried to stick to the cooked stuff but cheated. I didn't eat the Tuna just a few pieces of salmon. You'll be fine....just don't make a habit of itChat Icon

I ate some while PG also. I also mostly stayed with the cooked stuff but I had one or two bites of raw stuff too. Just make sure you are eating it from a very clean, reputable place.

I never fully understood the no raw sushi deal anyway...I mean, I understand it as a precaution and all, but I imagine pregnant Japanese women eat it all the time.

Re: sushi

The reason for this is there is a sort of parasite that can live in raw fish. They say in moderation because the less times you have it the less chance you have of getting sick. Its all statisctics-same thing with unpasteurized cheeses, they CAN contain listeriosis which can make you ill and cause MC.
