Swelling From Surgery - Update

I had surgery on Thursday and came home today. My stomach is swollen which is expected since that's where my incisions are, but my hands and feet are also HUGE. I can seriously feel the skin on my ankles stretching. I guess this is from all the fluids they've been pumping in to me? I figured I'd be down a few lbs since I've barely eaten anything, but I'm up 6.5 since Thursday. Is this normal? I'll ask the doctor tomorrow but curious if this happened to anyone else and how fast does it go away?

Thanks!

Update:

I spoke to my doctor and he told me that was absolutely normal. He said he pumped me up with probably 15-20 lbs of water during surgery.

Re: Swelling From Surgery

I had my surgery 5 1/2 years ago, I dont remember my hands and feet being swollen, I gained also after the surgery, Dont worry the swelling will go down. Did you have the big surgery?

I'd call the dr to make sure. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

All the dr told me was that my stomach and shoulders could hurt after this surgery. I wasn't told about extremity swelling.

Oh wow. I'm glad it's normal. And I'm also glad this is kind of a warning for my surgery next week, so I don't fully freak out!
