swing time?
I feel terrible somedays because I feel that my ds spends 50% of his time awake in his swing. I feel like he is addicted to it It'snot that I don't have time to hold him and stuff but he is such a fussy and gassy baby that he calms down in the swing. One day he slept in it for three hours (swinging). If I turn it off he wakes up instantly. I feel so guilty!

I'm a firm beleiver in doing what makes your baby happy and if chiling out in the swing for some of this day is it, then don't worry about it. Every baby is different and likes different things so do what is best for you guys.

Re: swing time?
I agree with ddunne2 and you should not feel bad. Logan loves his jumperoo... I dont take him out until he starts fussing. Some days he'll be in it for an hour or two. If your baby likes it I dont see any reason why you should feel bad.

Re: swing time?
I don't see a problem with it if he's happy there. Jake loves his swing and he used be in there for a couple of hours at time. Alot of the time he just didn't want to be held and was perfectly content in the swing. It could be you have a somewhat independent baby, like mine is, where they like to chill and do their own thing for a little while.
Also, it's probably a phase that he'll outgrow and deviate from. Jake doesn't like to hang out in his swing for as long as he used to. When he's done, he definitely lets me know.

Re: swing time?
Don't feel bad... I put Alex in her swing a lot... in fact, yesterday she took a 3 hour nap in her swing. She gets fussy and gassy and it makes it impossible for her to fall asleep and the swing seems to be one of the only things that helps. There are days when I don't use the swing and then she ends up wide awake for 12 hours, which doesn't do her any good at all...

Re: swing time?
well he has the hiccups and I just put him again...I thought I heard there was a 1/2 hour limit to swinging. Someone told me it's going to mess up his equilibrium. Okay I feel better now knowing I am not the only one whose little one sits for more than an hour in there. My wrists hurt from all the bouncing and burping my gassy baby!

Re: swing time?
Logan loves his swing!!!!! As a matter of fact, he's in it right now . He often falls asleep for 2-3 hours at a time if I'll let him. I know what you're saying about feeling bad, sometimes I do too because he'll stay in there for hours at a time first looking around and then falling asleep. I always play a nursery rhyme CD for him while he's in there and sing along to it.

Re: swing time?
I agree with what everyone said. If the little guy is happy in the swing, but him in the swing.

Re: swing time?
My Little Louie is swinging all the time!! He sleeps in it swinging for up to 4 hours when he's really fussy. Whatever works my mother says! Don't feel bad. If he wasn't happy he would definitely let you know.

I agree. I just read that studies have shown that babies who cry less are more intelligent because then spend time observing what is going on around them and taking it all in.
