Switching careers?

Have you ever done this....left one industry to go someplace completely different? If so how did you do it? I want to but it just seems so hard.

When I was completing my Master's degree, there were several people in my program who were changing industries to the social work field.

But yeah, that does require another degree, schooling and completing two field placements.

I did this - switched from corporate to teaching.

I love teaching but cannot find a job.

Since I love my new field, it was a good move in one respect.

However, when I look at my bank account, I think it was a terrible move.

So I'm undecided.

It was hard because I needed to work full time through most of my schooling, so I was overwhelmed for about 1.5 years. Then I quit my old job and it got better.

If you do a search on this board (maybe for switch or change and career?) you'll find threads about this in the past.

I don't mean to blow you off when I say that. I just remember a few relevant threads with thoughtful responses in the past.
