switching doctors

Has anyone called their old doctor themselves to have them send over your records to your new doctor?

Just wondering if they gave you any problems.

i called my obgyn and asked for copies of my records. they charged me and i went to pick them up and brought them to my dr. thats probably the easiest thing to do...i only asked for the last year of tests that i had so mine was only a few pages so it was $3. i never had any known problems so i only asked for the tests rather than my past years visits.

if you do this they will fax you autho form & charge you when you pick them up.

I called and asked for the records to be sent to me, I made a copy for myself since its always good to have a copy of your medical records and when I go to my new doctor I'll just bring them with me.

They did ask a lot of questions, and drag their feet on getting them to me but aside from that everything went smoothly.

ETA: They did charge me per page so it did cost a little bit for them to be sent to me.

When I went to the new dr they had me fill out a form and they mailed it to the old drs office. Dr's give other offices courtesty, sometimes they charge pts for there records.

I went and picked them up from the doctor. They made me sign a release.
