switching dog to a new food
I'm going to call my vet tomorrow to ask but how do you switch your dog to a new food? I'd like to do it very slowly, and the most conservative way I saw online was over a period of 4 weeks.
week 1 25% old food, 75% new food week 2 50/50 week 3 75/25 week 4 100 new food

Re: switching dog to a new food
I've usually done it over about a week to two weeks... just slowly introducing the new food with the old and increasing it a bit more each day.
(though I will say I have two large dogs - things may be different with smaller ones)

Re: switching dog to a new food
We have been transitioning our dog to new food for a few weeks now...she still got a bit of diarrhea from the initial introduction but she's fine now and I think we're almost at 100% of the new food.

Re: switching dog to a new food
I've heard mixing it with the new food until you can gradually wean out the old food. But I cant say from experience because everytime Achiiles is puppy sat by family they tell me he eats the other dogs foods. He has never gotten sick, but then again he is so not picky about anything either.
