Switching Formula to Enfamil Gentlease
My DS has been experiencing a lot of fussiness, gas, and spit up. So the doctor suggested that I try Enfamil Gentlease.
We currently use Similac Isomil Soy (as a preference - no milk allergies).
So how long would you say is safe to determine if the new formula will make a difference? Does it take a week or so to transition from one formula to the next? He just seems uncomfy and I dont want him to be uncomfortable when he drinks his bottles.
Please, for those of you who have switced formulas what has been your experience?
My DS is 8 weeks.
TIA

Re: Switching Formula to Enfamil Gentlease
I switched too over to Gentlease which is great for us. It did take about a week and we had to do Mylicon and prune juice during the transition to keep her comfortable.
Try Mylicon every 3rd bottle or so (if your dr OKs it). It really helped Syd.

Re: Switching Formula to Enfamil Gentlease
I am breastfeeding, but also supplement. The Similac Advanced she would vomit up. We then tried the isomel which was disgusting and her poop was watery and she was stil fussy. We have been on the gentlease for a month now....she is still having some issues but i think she is just really gassy and maybe has a bit of reflux. but when we switched from isomel to gentlease we noticed a difference within a few days.

Re: Switching Formula to Enfamil Gentlease
We switched Aiden to Gentlease around the seven week mark. He was fine on Similiac Advanced in the beginning but once he was drinking 5 or 6 ounces at each feeding it was too heavy on his stomach. I like Gentlease --- if it doesn't sit right with him he spits up right away. So no more moaning and groaning at night and soon after that he started sleeping longer stretches at night 5 to six hours.
We saw a difference right away, but Aiden wasn't really gassy or fussy much during the day it was all at night. Just be ready for lots of bibs and burping cloths. On Similac Aiden barely ever spit up -- on Gentlease he spits up a little bit all the time.
