Switching from formula to milk?

I know I'll find out more about this when I take DD to the ped on Wednesday, but I know at 1 year we're supposed to be switching to milk. One of my books said to just switch cold turkey, but my SIL told me to phase it in gradually. I could wait & see what the doctor says, but was curious about how you all handled it.

Re: Switching from formula to milk?

Every three days I replaced one formula bottle with whole milk. In just about two weeks, he was one whole milk completely.

Nate was on Soy formula and DH is lactose intolerant, so we wanted to make sure he didn't have any issues with regular milk.

I went right to milk. I tried mixing some milk into the formula and she wouldn't drink it. She didn't like it. So we went cold turkey to milk and it was fine.

We went cold turkey...one day formula in a bottle...the next day, milk in a sippy cup. DD made the switch just fine and did not put up a fuss about her formula or her bottles!

Re: Switching from formula to milk?

I did it gradually over about 1 1/2 weeks- starting off first with 2 ounces out of an 8 ounce bottle milk/formula ratio for about 3 days- then up to 3 ounces milk for 3 days, then 4, etc etc...

I did it over about 1 1/2-2 week period and now we're on 100% whole milk.

We're doing it gradually. 1 ounce (then 2 oz, then 3, etc.) per bottle every 3-4 days.
