Switching to table food
My DS is 8.5 mths old and refuses to eat any baby food (homemade or Gerber). He think he wants to feed himself. Last night, I tried feeding him regular food (frozen peas and carrots warned up), pieces of chicken cut up small, elbow macaroni cut in half. He actually ate everything and fed himslef.
My concern is two fold....he has no teeth so I make the pieces really small and the second is I have no idea what a serving should be. What is a good measurement? Any advice?

Re: Switching to table food
We started DS on table food around 8 months he only had his 2 bottom teeth at the time. Their gums are strong enough to mash up the food, so as long as you cut it small, you should be fine. If you are having a tough meat, like steak, I generally through it in the food processor, until its in small pieces (not puree). DS will allow me to feed him but is totally anti-baby food, he loves the texture and chewing (I think)
As for serving size, honestly that’s all about trial and error. I take a desert plate and pretty much fill it up with his meat, veggie and rice/mashed potatoes etc. DS will eat about 90% of that, the dog is a lucky lady and gets the rest!
DS is now 10 months old and on 99% table food, I love it, its so much easier. I also keep Gerber microwave meals on hand for nights he can’t have what we are eating.
