switching to table food

DS is almost 17 months.

He was eating quite a bit of table food... but I have been giving him more baby food lately b/c I feel like he's eating more that way.

Now I'm a little concerned he's getting "lazy" - he would prefer to read a book and have me spoon feed him than feed himself. Using the spoon or fork, or just feeding himself, used to be exciting for him - but lately when I give him table food he HARDLY eats at all.

Anyway, just wanted this to be a quick post - sorry!

When did your DC switch to all table food?

And HOW did you switch? I'm considering goingn cold turkey. Thoughts?

TIA!

Re: switching to table food

I have 14 month old twins and I go between table food and baby food. I am like you I don't think there getting enough table food sometimes and feeding them baby food makes me feel secure that there getting the right vitamin I had a friend who feed her twins baby food up untill 18 months. You do what makes you feel comfortable. They will eventually turn completely to table food on there owne. I have also kept them on baby food longer for they have alot of allergies.

Thanks for your replies.

Nope, he doesn't choke or anything - he's QUITE comfortable eating table food. Just sometimes he hardly eats any of it. If it's novel, he'll eat it.

Like last night he ate pasta with his own spoon. He ate a TON.

So I thought he'd do great with mac and cheese for lunch today with his own spoon. He loved this mac and cheese the last time I gave it to him - today he hardly ate it.

Anyway, thanks for posting. I'll just keep trying! Chat Icon
