Swollen eyes...What Dr to go to?

A week ago my eyes became swollen and itchy, went to the Eye Dr who said it was an allergic reaction.

he gave me something to put on my lids and it went away.

Now last night they are all swollen and itchy again!

I don't want to go back to the eye dr b/c I really don't feel like it is a reaction to anything and not an eye problem since he checked my eyes.

Would you go to a dermatologist or just a regular dr?

sounds like allergies. try some benadryl?

How about an allergist? They can run some tests to see exactly what you're allergic to.

I had the same exact problem once and ended up in the hospital with a severe allergic reaction because I had a reaction to the medicine. Go to either an allergist or dermatologist. Good luck

I'd try a dermotologist or an allergist. Try to recount every single thing you did on the days of the breakout. Any new medications, mixture of medications, vitamines, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent... ANYTHING!

I had this happen to me last week. Turns out it was the new face wash from Clean and Clear I bought. When I read the label, it said...may cause swelling!!!

did you try taking allergy meds? my eyes always get swollen and itchy from allergies. I would try some OTC stuff before going to a specialist. Benadryl is great but makes you sleepy, try claritin and see how that works for you.

I just went to the doctor for this.. and when I was there, she told me I was the second person that she saw that day for the same thing-- She told me that the cause of it was due to time of year-- changing weather and allergies, as well as stress.

She told me that I had dermatitis on my eyes and prescribed Elidel-- is that what you got? I just went on Monday and I have not had much luck with my eyes getting better. She also prescribed Allegra.

Other things that she said to do was to take my nail polish off since an ingredient in the polish causes the dryness or something. Also- obviously try to avoid touching your eyes... You may have reinfected yourself.

I would go back to the dermatologist and see what else they can give you/.

Alllergist! I woke up like that this morning. I have a great allergist in Wantagh

in addition to treating the allergy if the puffiness does not go away quickly enough you can use (I Swear, not kidding) Preparation H. It makes the swelling go down in a big way.

I went to a dermatologist and she said it was allergies.
I have never had any allergy symptoms ever so I don't know where this came from.


Randella...I got prescriptions for a lotion called Cultivate and then Zyrtec to take at night. And to take Claritin in the day.
The lotion seemed to stop the itchiness as soon as I put it on.

The eye dr had given me a different lotion but not the one you mentioned.
I will let you know what happens, I hope you feel better soon!

Can you go to an allergist w/o a referal? I would go to a my reg Dr. and see what he says. It most likley is an allergic reaction. If you have benadryl I would take some and see the doc in the AM.
