Swollen Lymphnode on the base of his head/top of his neck???
Should I be concerned.
When he was a baby my DS had these in the same spot. the doc said that i was from his cradle cap but he has always had them and today on of them is huge. Im getting nervous.
I plan to call ped on monday, but im freaking out. Does anyone or did anyone have this problem?

My son always has these. They are exactly at the base of his head. They become enlarged if he is going to be sick in a day or two. I wouldn't be concerned at all. Unfortunately, DC may get a little cold or somthing, but I'm sure nothing serious.

Re: Swollen Lymphnode on the base of his head/top of his neck???
DS2 had them as an infant. When they didn't go down after a few months, my ped sent him in for a sonogram (it might be called something different but it was the wand thing like when you are pregnant!). Turns out it was just swollen lymph nodes and they went away on their own. Still scary though

DS has them too. They are noticeable all the time, but worse when he is sick or right beofre he gets sick.

DS has one right now...I took him to the ped on Tuesday because I panicked....he's on antibiotics because he said it might be an infection...I think it's going down but it still makes me nervous.

Re: Swollen Lymphnode on the base of his head/top of his neck???
DD had a dermoid cyst in that area. It felt like a pea under the skin. I went to my pediatrician, who then sent me to a pediatric surgeon. Depends on what it is I guess. But I wouldn't worry, Monday isn't far off and he will be ok until then.

DD has one at the base of her head/top of her neck too. She's had it since she was born and still has it at 18 months. They told me it would go away but it's still here. Next time we're at the docs I'll ask her to look at it again, but they said it's nothing to worry about.

My DS had some really prominent ones too and is 2.5. I've asked the ped several times about them and he says they are nothing to worry about. He has bad eczema all the time though, so that could be part of the reason.
