Sydnie Anne's Birth Story 8/29/08
My C/S was scheduled for 9:15 on 8/29/08. I had to be there at 7:15. DH and I arrived and signed in. I was having such butterflies. The time passed really quickly until an emergency delayed me over an hour. But it was fine. I enjoyed the time with DH.
I had a really bad reaction to the epidural. Getting it was not bad at all but as soon as she injected the drugs my BP dropped to 90 over 60 and I basically passed out. I was in semi-consciousness and was so worried I was going to miss out on the birth of my daughter but once DH got next to me I relaxed a little and came to a bit more. I had 2 doctors and one of them was late so by the time he got there my body adjusted to the medicine. I didn't really feel anything except the doctor laying on my upper abdomen/chest trying to push the baby out. Next thing I know I hear the doctor say "Get your camera ready". I couldn't believe it. I heard a baby cry which seemed somewhere far off in the distance. DH looks at me and goes "Do you hear her?????" Suddenly it clicked "OH MY GOD that's MY baby!!!!!!" It was the weirdest thing  Once I heard her cry I snapped out of my daze. They held her up over the curtain and I lost it. She was beautiful- goop and all. They examined and cleaned her in the crib thing right next to us so I was fixated on her and paid no attention to the end of the surgery. DH watched the whole surgery and has some graphic pictures to show for it! She was born at 11:16 a.m. 20 inches and 7 lbs 10 oz.
They brought me to recovery where I finally got to hold her but I wasn't feeling well. My temp was down to 96.2, I couldn't feel my waist down, my arms were even tingly. I was in recovery for a while until I stabalized. Even still, I was nursing 20 minutes after she was born and it was magical.
Once I got to my room it all started sinking in. That first day was magical. I was glad I couldn't get out of bed. All I wanted to do was lay there and hold her. I had a ton more visitors than I ever expected and the love and generosity was overwhelming.
I had a lot of issues with BFing and they made me supplement. That was the most frustrating thing. The recovery itself was rough but each day got a little better. My DH was amazing throughout everything, I could not have asked for more. I was so happy to come home and every day is a gift with this precious baby in my life. It's a scary and amazing journey. I just look forward to the rest of my life with her. Image Attachment(s):
