Synthroid ladies
What kind of symptoms did you experience once you started taking the synthroid?
My mood has definitely stabilized, but at the same time, my metabolism is off the hook now, and my face is breaking out like crazy.
Anyone else?

Re: Synthroid ladies
I have no side effects from taking synthroid. How long ago did you start taking it? It takes about 8 weeks I think my endo said to build up enough in your system to even have an effect to see whether it is leveling you off.
Is it possible that the dose is too high and now you are switching to the other side? Hypo to hyper etc?

Re: Synthroid ladies
No side effects...I read up and asked my Dr and was told there were no side effects? Which I thought was odd...but whatever.
What do you mean metabolism is off the hook?

Re: Synthroid ladies
I've been taking it for just about 8 weeks now, and I definitely notice more breakouts, and when I say my metabolism is off the hook, it means, I'm running to the bathroom more often than I ever did.
Hmmmm. Ok, well, maybe it's not the Synthroid, and I"m just extra hormonal or something
I know I haven't drifted to hyper because they just tested my blood and my levels are still slightly elevated.

Re: Synthroid ladies
Your metabolism increasing can be attributed to it slightly, off the hook I don't think so unless you became hype. The other stuff I would definitely say is probably do to the hormones.

Re: Synthroid ladies
I've been on it for three weeks.
The first two days, I was off the wall. I felt like a completely different person. I'm normally pretty moody and irritable, but for those first two days I felt like I could understand how the happy people feel.
It's gotten better since then -- my normal state of being "low" isn't quite as low.
And, I'm really, really thirsty. I feel like all I do at work is either fill my water glass or use the ladies room. I also started Metformin a few days after starting the synthroid, so I guess it could be either one of those meds making me so thirsty.

Re: Synthroid ladies
The only effect I experienced when I started taking synthroid was that I started to feel "normal" again. My body was so screwed between being overactive & taking the meds to control that until it was treated, the treatment for hyper made me hypo and then getting everything back to normal (I had to take prednisone for a few months).
If you are really concerned you should check with your doctor. Good luck!
