"Tail" of an English Bulldog Search!
DH and I are continuing in our quest for an English Bulldog. I thought I'd update for anyone else going through the same thing.
In our desire to rescue, we have hooked up with our local English Bully rescue group and have ben on application since late Novemeber.
Today we had our home visit and all went well -- they brought over their personal rescued bulldog (about 3 yrs old, rescued from a mill) and he was almost TOO good -- and he has only been with them two months. Very CALM (they are known to be), good with strangers, he relaxed in our den, did his business in our backyard --- and the best part, when the rescue people tried to leave --- he didn't want to go! He kept his cute butt firmly planted on the rug and refused to go! Then, we all finally walked outside and he relcuctantly came out...and planted his butt on the grass...they had to pick him up to get him into their car.
They said that's a really good home visit! LOL.
Stay tuned!

Oh Leese I think that is fantastic!!! Did the people from the rescue say how much longer it would be until they'd have a bully for you to adopt?
How did you get the process started? What were they looking for today? What did they do while they were there?
Oh so many questions!!!!

I was thinking of you when I posted but didn't want to call you out. LOL.
We submitted an application with them in October/November. They say not to email but we did and they said they would keep us in mind.
I hounded them around Christmas and after the New Year and just this week they said they wanted to have a volunteer come meet us.
Unfortunately - NO idea about time frame - right dog for the right person but I know we are high on their "list." But with rescues like them, they don't just serve down the line.
They just came, looked at our fence, looked at our house, talked and that was it! It was great to see a bully in our house and it made me realize that our house is perfect for them. Our lower level is a great "home base"...he had to picked up and prodded to go upstairs and I realized I'll have to get carpeting on the stairs for our future dog! LOL.
Tell me if you have any other questions.

Re: "Tail" of an English Bulldog Search!
Thank you so much!!! I don't know why I didn't know you were looking to adopt a bully but welcome to the club!!!
Have you guys looked into breeders? We are more inclined to go this route b/c we really want a puppy and from what I understand puppies are not common in rescues.
If you have, (looked into breeders) would you mind sharing the info? I have found it so difficult to find what seems to be a reputable breeder. One breeder I found turned out to be a broker who sells sick pups from Eastern Europre. This "breeder" had their license suspeneded from the AKC and were fined, though unfortunately, they were not put out of business. It's so sad, I just don't know who to trust.

Re: "Tail" of an English Bulldog Search!
I think I know who you are talking about.
I do know of a few VERY reputable breeders who are quite selective because they sell the dogs that don't become their show dogs. I'll look up the info and FM you.
We've been looking to get a bully for 2 years and since buying our house in October it's heated up.
I know almost TOO much. We have been researching the breed for two years!
I'll be in touch! LOL.

Good luck with both of your searches!
