Re: tailbone pain
I had this once, and it turned out to be a cyst at the bottom of my tailbone (I forgot the name of the cyst). Sometimes it flares up, especially when I do the stationary bike at the gym ALOT.
I remember the pain, it was so bad that when I had that first and really bad flare up, I couldn't even walk.

Re: tailbone pain
I slipped on the ice in February and landed right on my tailbone. I was basically immobilized for 3 days. I found that the only way I could sit was to lean forward so that my tailbone wasn't rubbing against anything. I tried some pillows, etc but they just weren't comfortable to me, I was better leaning forward. The pain did not fully go away for about 2 months.
DH had the cyst that some posters mentioned above; he had to have surgery for it. But that was something you could physically see on his body, unlike my injury that was internal.
Whatever it is, if its bothering you since November, I think its time for a doctor.
Feel better!

Re: tailbone pain
If its a pilonidal cyst, I've had them 2x and they were absolute torture! Get it checked out sooner than later. Mine grew so quickly, that by the time I took care of them, they were the size of lemons!!

Re: tailbone pain
I hurt my about 5 years ago sitting too long in one spot on a crowded plane. I had xrays, MRI, thye could find nothing wrong, just got inflammed and never fully went away. it still bugs me now after medications, acupuncture, etc.
I have to be careful what I sit on. Only firm things with a cushion feel best. And this pillow saves my life...

I would die without this...I have been using them to sit for long periods or in the car since it happened. It is the most annoying feeling ever.

Re: tailbone pain
I bruised my coxic bone (tail bone) when I was in 8th grade.. So I guess I was about 14 and that was um.... 18 freakin' years ago!
From time to time it bothers me after sitting for so long.
It's actually funny that you posted this-- cause I was going to post something about it because I feel like it's been acting up lately-- like, at work, every time I get up from my desk, it just feels very sore. Maybe it's the weather.
Anyway, I had wanted to see if anyone else had bruised it in the past-- and if they still got pain.

Re: tailbone pain
I injured my tail bone by sitting down on a beach chair. It ended up being that the chair was not where I thought it was and I full force went down on concrete. It took 2 years to feel better.I had to sit on soft furniture and do some exercises. Not fun!!!! I hope you feeel better soon.
