Take the vines of off vine tomatoes before purchasing?
I ran into the supermarket last night for tomatoes. I saw a woman taking the vines off of the tomatoes and then putting them into the bag, minus the vines. Are we supposed to do that, or not? I usually leave them on, but the more I thought about it, we are paying more because the weight of the vines increases the price. Any ideas?

I leave them on, unless I only need one or two, in which case I'd take them off.
I really can't imagine the weight of the vine impacting the price that much?

I was a cashier in HS, I never saw anyone take them off the vines. The weight of them would be so small.

I would've never even thought to do that, but I usually buy the compari tomatoes in the package. I guess if you only want to purchase a certain number of tomatoes, why not?
