Re: taking dc to disney....
We go to Disney every year. DD just turned 2 and she's been to Walt Disney World in Florida 3 times and Disneyland in California once.
We take her to every single park they have, except the water parks. We generally spend 2 days in Magic Kingdom because there is the most to do there for kids. Then we spend 1 day each in EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. We also make sure we have pool days and we stay at the hotel and hang out at the pool, participate in activities at the hotel, just chill in the room.
ETA: We like to do Character Dining to get pics with the characters. We do Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom which has the Winnie the Pooh characters, Park Faire in Grand Floridian which has Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland, and Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary which has Mickey and Friends. There is also a Princess Lunch at Cinderella's Castle but we have never done that.

Defin do breakfast w/ the characters. Also the princess makeup/hair thing at the castle. Make sure to make your reservations for these things as soon as you book your trip.

Re: taking dc to disney....
DD #1s first trip was about 18 months in 1995. DSs first trip (technically was in utero but....) was at age 5mos in 1997. DD# 2 was just 7 weeks old in 2008 and again last summer at about a year. She didn't love the characters or the rides Our usual Disney vacay is in late August but I delvered mid August. We took everyone in September for a short trip. She pretty much slept the whole trip in a carrier or her infant seat.
We will be returning this summer when Zoey will be 2 years and 2 weeks. I am expecting her to LOVE it this year.

Re: taking dc to disney....
I think only under 2 is free.
I went last year. DS was 6 months. My niece was 3 and my nephew was just under 2. We had a great time even at these young ages.
My sister is the Disney Queen. She goes every year. Her daughter Genevieve is 4 and has been there 5 times (i think?). You should FM her if you need any info (Michelle1123).

Re: taking dc to disney....
Kids under 3 are free in parks and also at any buffet style restaurant. At table service places you will have to pay or they eat off your plate. We go every year and belong to the Vacation Club. A fun time for all!

Re: taking dc to disney....
We took DD#1 when she was 15 months. We have a trip planned in May for DD#2's birthday before DD#1 turns 3 (under 3 are free). DD#1 got her 1st haircut there they do a bunch of special things for it including a free minnie ears that say my 1st haircut for about $14 total.
It's work but it was so much fun!!
