taking ollie on a long car ride?
We're driving to NC next week and taking Ollie with us. We did a practice drive and took her out to petco and she was so sick after she's been laying in her crate for almost 2 hours. I can't imagine taking a 10 hour ride with her, is there anything I can do or anything I can give her that will help make the ride smoother? Please remember she's only 4 lbs and 10 weeks old so I don't know if I can give her medication. TIA.

Car sickness is not uncommon for small/young dogs. Cooper used to get the worst car sickness after even a 15-minute car ride. He eventually grew out of it. I would plan a lot of stops during your trip and make sure you have a few rolls of paper towels on hand as well as Nature's Miracle (you can get it at Petco... it's a Godsend... it gets up the stain and takes away the smell and it's totally pet safe!). Good luck!

Re: taking ollie on a long car ride?
Oh my gosh, Bella use to get SOOO car sick, the second we got in the car she would start drooling and panting, and if she ate recently she would throw up. It took her about 4-5 months to grow out of it. We use to just have her sit in the car for a few minutes each day, then we would turn the car on with her just sitting in it, then we slowly progressed to longer trips. Now she is fine, and actually loves riding in the car.

thanks for the response. It looks like we're just going to have to prepare for the worst, lol.
