Taking the bottle away-guilt

Today I decided that I was just going to give my 14 month DS just a sippy cups with milk and no bottle. He took them without a problem. The thing is, I feel so guilty taking the bottle. Maybe it just makes me think he is not my little baby any more. I remember with my first son I went cold turkey also.

Anyone else feel guilty, sad and emotional over taking away the bottle?

He was EBF from day one and only started milk when he turned a year, but had bottles of pumped milk from the beginning.

I didn't feel guilt, but I did feel sad. She didn't even ask for the bottle once I took it away for good-thankfully.

I felt terribly guitly about taking away the morning bottle since this is the one he LOVED

However i took away one at a time and that was the last to go. i felt HORRIBLE...but now he calls his sippy his "baba" so i think it was more habit than anything else....

Re: Taking the bottle away-guilt

Thanks for the responses. I just called my DH and he said the baby did great this morning without the bottle. I was kind of hoping that he would say he didn't like the cup, but I know it is the best for him.

Part of me is sad too because it makes me think he is not a baby anymore.

We will see what happens today at day care when the other kids around him have a bottle.

Don't feel guilty - I WISH this would happen in my house. We tried to go cold turkey last weekend and it was a disaster and we caved and gave it back. I know we will have to try it again soon and I am dreading it.
