Taking the next step to the OB/GYN , DH and his issues sorry if TMI, but need some answers from anyone else going thru this.....
After not using BC for 3 years, but not being totally serious about TTC, until recently, I made an appotinment to see my OB/GYN. I am switching doctors in the practice because I had a bad bad bad experience with another doctor there. I was told the one I am switching to is compasionate and nice and a good bedside manner and delivers babies. I am so confused on when to BD , and I think my DH is having some "issues", down below. He is going to a urologist on 4/24. He is mortified and would be even more mortified if I shared what is going on with him, but I am going to to see if anyone elses DH has this problem, and what was done to fix it, and how would I look up something like that online but when he does his business it just dribbles out, so we think that could be causing me not to get a BFP. I have a regular 26-28 day cycle like clockwork. What will my doctor discuss with me at the office? I am so nervous. I am also relieved to to finally get the hsow on the rode so to speak.... PS I was told I would not need a internal exam becuase I had one within the year. Sorry if TMI , I am so embarassed to be posting this.

Don't be embarrassed at all. And you can always remove the post - hopefully no one will quote it....
However, I think that if he sees a specialist they should be able to tell him what the problem is..... Hopefully there is a simple explanation for it....

NO need to be embarrassed!!! We are all here for the same reasons and to help!!!
Dealing with MF (male factor) I could say I am an expert in male's problems now...Of course I am not a doctor and could be wrong but but based on your "little description" is looks to me your DH might be suffering from Sperm Clumping (look it up online-lots of info on it).
Sperm that clump together are unhealthy and could be a sign of immunological infertility, in which your body is making antisperm antibodies. It simply means that many sperm stick together in groups or clusters. This impairs sperm motility and prevents the sperm from swimming up to through the cervix towards the egg. Easy way of fixing it is taking simple Vitamin C & E...and if he is a smoker, ask him to cut down or quit.
I would ask the urologist about all this ...but PLEASE make sure you go to one that specializes in male infertility and not a regular urologist...don't waste your time with one like that......
The doctor will order a semen analysis, blood work & and ultrasound (if necessary)...based on those results they will find out more what the problem might be......The doctor will do the same for you, order Day 3 bloods and do an internal sono.
Good luck!!!

I don't have any words of advice as I'm just starting out myself but definitely don't be embarrassed! That's what this board is here for

Don't worry about an interal sono...I had them twice, when I had my m/c. It's no big deal.

Don't be embarrased, we discuss everything here. Also, if you're having issues discussing this on a message board with strangers that don't know who you are, you are going to find your ability to get the problem solved limited by your ability to communicate with the MD. He also needs to get over shyness etc, or the two of you will never get anywhere. Yes, I know that being forced to ejaculate into a cup and then walk out of a room and hand it to someone (most likely female) is not a pleasant experience for any guy, but what has to be done, has to be done.
Here are some links to give you more information about things the MD will want to know (although some of it pertains to people that haven't been trying as long as you).

He might, he might not..He will start with a simple exam (pap test, etc), breast exam...if he will feel anything abnormal, then you will get an internal sono...It doesn't hurt..it is just uncomfortable...feels like a cold, hard dildo (sorry ) you will be fine...
If it is clumping then it is fixible...don't worry, unless the motility is very very bad, then you will need IUI or even IVF but PLEASE don't think about that now...you will not need it...just go and get everything checked out with you and your DH..
Good luck!!

Thank you all for replying. It really means alot that I can come on here and talk to all of you about this . I just looked up my DH blood pressure medication, which he has been on for years.... and it can indeed cause male infertility problems. Why on earth would a doctor prescribe this then considering he is of child bearing age? I just hope it is this simple.

Re: Taking the next step to the OB/GYN , DH and his issues sorry if TMI, but need some answers from anyone else going thru this.....
ANTIHYPERTENSIVES(BLOOD PRESSURE DRUGS):
Captopril and Enalapril (Vasotec): Captopril and Enalapril are medications used for the treatment of high blood pressure. They belong to a class of drugs called ACE Inhibitors that act to inhibit an enzyme that is ultimately responsible for constricting blood vessels. This inhibition results in a decrease in blood pressure. It is believed that Captopril and Enalapril may interfere with the ability of the sperm to bind to and fertilize the egg.
Did I read this right? I CANNOT believe that a doctor would prescribe this! MY DH has been on this for 13 years. I am now starting to put it together a little bit, I am glad I am going to the doctor as well as DH is too.
