tanning while pregnant??!?!?
Ok...this does not sound right to me...i went to lunch with an old co-worker recently and i was saying how pale i am and wish i could go in the tanning bed...she works at a tanning salon and said pregnant women come in all the time...
thats just odd to me....i dont think i would be comfortable...i know you cant "cook" your baby, but thats all i would be thinking...
do any of you ladies still tan while pregnant???

i have a wedding coming up in february and im going to be a bm and i would love to go tanning but im just going to stick to Dove's energy glow lotion ;)

honestly - i'm the palest person in the world - year round (our baby will come out CLEAR)..
pale = healthy - so that works for me.

Im a big tanner...fake baker 
and while I was pg. I wouldnt do it....I chose the airbrush tan instead.
But I also did work in one and yes its safe and saw pg women tan.

Pregnant women tan all the time...There are advisoriies but there are the same advisories when you tan NOT PREGNANT. Luckily its winter so I don't mind being a little paler but I have to be honest that i CANNOT wait to tan again after their births..Won't be for ahwile bc you cannot tan for 6-9 mnths with a c-section scar.....I got pregnant so quickly after TTC'ing that I know I tanned int he very beginning.. I had NO clue i was expecting yet!...

Personally, for me i have heard that it is contradicted for women to go to tanning salons when pregnant. It raises your body tempature, just like we are not suppose to use heating pads or take hot baths. I would wait until after the baby, but thats JMO

I went to new mommies orientation at my OB's office and they said you can still tan.
This was my face 
I argued that there was no way that could be proven to be good for the baby and they said there is no research that shows that is has a negative effect on the baby.
Either way, I'm sticking to spray tanning until the baby comes.

I did tan outdoors in the summer, I went to the pool and the lake but I don't think I could ever lay in a tanning bed while PG. I think I would be too uncomfortable and I would just be paranoid I would be hurting the baby in some way. PLUS we really shouldn't be too hot at any point in time even hot showers are not reccomended for PG people.

I'm not a tanner though -
I don't think I'd  someone else for doing it while PG -

I have a friend who is a tanning freak, and she went tanning throughout her entire pregnancy. Her baby was fine and turned out to be healthy, but I still would never do it.

exposure to sun and tanning beds can lead to fatal skin cancer, not to mention early wrinkles... so i don't do it, pregnant or not.

I tan and will continue to while pregnant. If you can go to the pool or beach while pregnant, you can tan in a tanning bed. The rays cant affect the baby in your body. The only real danger is your body temp -- but if you keep the fan on high and get out if you feel too warm, its fine.

i actually asked my OB when i was pg with my son- she looked at me like i was crazy, and said its bad for me in general, but wont do anythign to the baby.
ETA: i ended up not going b/c i felt guilty.

I know people sunbath on the beach while pregnant.. but tannign booth just seems a bit harsher on the body. I wouldnt want my body reaching those extreme heat levels with my little bun in the oven.. Bun might turn to toast.

omg..I cannot even believe someone would do this! If its not safe for a non-prego how a pregnant woman?
no hot baths due to elevated temp but its ok to get in a bed?
Let's just say..I know of someone who did it on the beach and she put herself in jeopardy.
I would not do it--just like sushi-alcohol and all that other stuff.
Spray tan can be great!

there is no comparison between natural UV rays, and synthetic ones at a tanning salon. A beach or pool is an open area, that you can keep your body cool in the water and get some color, but a bed is not safe your a womans body temp.
