Re: Tapas... Let's Discuss...where? which?
I went to an amazing tapas restaurant in Myrtle Beach. It was the best dinner I have ever had! We wanted to go back the following year but the owners and chefs were different and so was the menu...
We had a cheese platter, a mini-salad, bruschetta, tapenade, this string bean plate which was out of this world, a small beef plate (I dont eat red meat so DH had it), mini crab cakes....
I have not heard of tapas in suffolk. There is one in bayside on bell boulevard and quite a few in manhattan.
ETA: Apparently there are two or three in the Huntington area.

We went to CoCo Sala by Ford's Theater - tried to get dessert - didnt' work out so well. Asked for a dessert menu - got a bar menu. No one was at the bar... so we left.
We went to LaTasco in Old Alexandria. FYI - If you email them your address, they will send you a 20% off coupon - it expires soon after you get it so don't do it until you know you have to go.
We were told to go to Jaelo and the O'one (can't remember the name) but they were $$ and "seemed stuffy". This one was great and not too $ - except we got the all you can eat restaurant week menu.

I love love love La Tasca!! There was another place in DC my friend took me too, but I forget. Whenever I'm there we always get tapas.

Re: Tapas... Let's Discuss...where? which?
They have tapas at most authentic spanish (not hispanic, but spain spanish) restaurants. There are two in Island park/Oceanside that are good. La Rioja and Meson Iberia. La rioja is more the tapas style though. There are a bunch of excellent places in the city. Fluer de Sol is a favorite of mine. I went to another place in the city that was great and I forgot the name! On the UES there is a place called Malaga that is very good.
I love tapas!!! I would love to know if anyone knows of any other spanish places on LI.

Re: Tapas... Let's Discuss...where? which?
I can't think of the name of the restaurant.. ugh.. its in huntington village. DH and I went there a couple of months ago. Yummy food. They're known for their sangria, but DH and I didn't particularly care for it. Well they have a regular menu and a tapas menu. We ordered 3-4 tapas between the 2 of us and were good.
OMG, I can picture where it is and what it looks like. I believe its argentinian/spanish. They offer outdoor seating in the warmer weather. Its a few doors down from Samurai. Same side too.
This is really going to bother me that I can't think of the name!

Re: Tapas... Let's Discuss...where? which?
Lucys in babylon used to have a specials night and would do wine and tapas-the tapas were similar to what they offer as starters on their regualr menu...maybe call and see if they still have wednesday tapas and wine night.
lucys
Honu in huntington...again they don't call them tapas, but they come on tapas size plates-meaning you need to order to or three things to walk out of there full-they will tell you that when you sit down...its a good place to go with a few girlfriends so you can pick at everything.
honu
i know you were looking for tapas, and I was ecited to share both until I looked at the menu and saw they changed....both of which I was at last summer (2010)
Good luck!

I've only been there over the summer, not sure if menu changes but Fat Fish in Bayshore has tapas. Yummy ones too!! Loved the beef tenderloin, empanadas, hummus/ tapenade and cheese plates.

This is really going to bother me that I can't think of the name! Buenos Aires - same owners as Cassis so it's yum!!
Bin56 is like a tasting menu, which I guess is the same concept. Same owners as Toast, which while not tapas, is yummy too!

O no, that's too bad!! I had the most delicious hot chocolate of my life at Coco Sala. We just randomly ended up there.. and dessert is served at the bar, only meals at the table anyway, holy crap.. the hot chocolate.
But thanks for the tip on LaTasco.. will definetly check it out!
