Taste of Home Party - WWYD?
I started to post this on NFR but it would probably be moved here...
my boss hosted one of these parties a few months ago and I bought about $100 worth of stuff - mostly kitchen gadgets.
now my co-worker is having one this week and I already looked through the catalog a few days ago. I honestly did not see one thing I liked. maybe a candle for $10, but that's about it.
their products aren't really my taste, at ALL. they have a lot of ceramic entertaining items which I do not care for. everything is made in China, not the greatest quality and totally overpriced!
I was seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel the first time around. so now I feel like I am going to *have* to buy stuff I will probably never use just because you are "expected" to when you go to these things.
would you buy something anyway just to buy something? or would you make up an excuse and not go? (I already said I would go).

1-too bad u told her that you would go already! i would of said that i couldn't have gone.... 2-since u already said u were going i would just look (maybe you'll find something!) if you don't then say that u didn't see anything else that u wanted since u already purchased stuff not too long ago----i have been to plenty of these home parties where people just go and don't purchase something ---u can't help it if u don't like something!

i usually go to these parties but don't buy anything. honestly how much Avo, Pampered Chef, Party Like, Taste of Home do you need.
I go to support my friend, but i don't feel like i have to buy anymore. I used to, and then i just realized it was a waste of my money. if there is something i really like, i buy it, but i don't put the pressure on myself anymore to buy.

make an excuse and don't go, OR go but let her know you just went to one a few months ago and you just didn't see anything you like, leave it in her court to say "just come anyway"

I'd make up an excuse and not go. yup - that's what I decided to do. she has a ton of people going so it's really not a big deal that I won't be there.

most stores are happy to make 30%-60% on home products
they start at 200% - I am sure it goes higher on some items
they purposely buy items that AREN'T found at retail so you can't compare

Re: Taste of Home Party - WWYD?
This happened to me with Lia Sophia. I couldn't attend the party (truth) but then I just didn't give in an order to her.
I would just make an excuse, not go, and if she asks if you are interested in anything, just say nothing caught your eye.
I always follow up with a good "sometimes its better to be at the party because you see how useful/great/pretty it really is!"

Make an excuse and don't go.
I used to tell people I could not make the party but would look at the catalog and browse through it and tell them I could not find anything I did not have yet or wanted.

Re: Taste of Home Party - WWYD?
I am the type of person who has to buy if I go. In our case, I probably wouldn't go, but maybe order 1 thing from the catalog. Who cares if its only $10, w/tax & shpg. it will probably tack on another 5 bucks anyway.
