Re: Tavern on the green

I personally think it's ridiculously overrated. - There are a thousand MUCH better places in the city for dinner ! - What did you have in mind ??Maybe I can suggest something -

Re: Tavern on the green

We have been ther a few times. I personally think it is a better brunch place. There are sooo many 3 or 4 star restaurants you can go to in the city for a much better meal....Just my opinion Chat Icon

My personal preference is Petrossian. Food is great, service is great, and it's a great atmosphere. Very romantic. We go there for all our special occassions.

Candela (Union Sq, off Park Ave South) or Seppi's at Le Parker Meridien (near Lincoln Center)

I ate there a few years ago, and I wasn't impressed. I was just glad I didn't have to pay! Chat Icon

I was there a week ago for a work event we hold every year. I enjoy the food, but I wouldn't pick it for a personal celebration. It's very old-fashioned and not that romantic.

Does it definitley have to be the city? How about Louis XVI in Patchogue?

I have been there a few times and am not crazy about it. There are better places IMO.

same for me...

Also, went to DH's company christmas party there.... I would not *voluntarily* go there.

Nice romantic places I like are:
Il Buco
The Place (on West 4th)
Mas
Philippe Marie (private room for 2 in the wine cellar)

That's all I got off the top of my head.

The last time I was there I thought it was tacky.

I love River Cafe in Brooklyn. It has a view of the skyline.
