Tax Grievance Lawyer?
any recommendations? I got a letter in the mail for one company that charges 40% of the amount they save you on your taxes as their fee (so if they save you $500, you pay them $200 for their service)... not sure if that's good, or if anyone can recommend someone with a better deal?

Where are you located?
Standard in the industry is 50% of the first year's refund and/or savings. In addition, you will be resposible for court filing fees ($30 per taxing jurisdiction) and any appraisal fees (if necessary).

Tax Grievance Lawyer?
If you're in Nassau, the grievance part is super easy to do yourself as well. Just go through the county website, and it shows you all the recent sales in your area and then you pick sales that are comparable to your house. You'd want to find houses that sold for less than what your house is valued, in order to justify why your assessment should be lowered.

I wasn't referring to STAR.

I am using Wendi Lindsey, a vendor on here. I forget what she charges, but she can first look to see if you are likely to win a grievance. You can call her to find out her fee schedule.

Thanks- I got a letter from reducemynypropertytaxes.com with a decent deal, but would feel better if I went with someone recommended
