tax people/accountants: is it possible to take our taxes elsewhere
well, our accountant filed for extension. ( last year when this happened, we got our taxes handed back to us in October) this year the reception said that she wont make everyone wait till october again.
We are looking to get preapproved for a house and need our 2009 taxes. she said she needs a few more weeks yet i have a feeling that when i call back a month from our phone call they will still not be ready! 
can i just take our taxes elsewhere at this point?
my husband is an LLC and basically gave a years worth of bank statement/credit card statments and receipts.
we give her the benefit of the doubt but come one lady!

my dh says
I don't know when she gave her acct all of their info, but sorting thru a years worth of bk stmts and credit cards stmts is no easy task...that said, her acct should at least give her a rough estimate of when it'll be done
btw, most acct/tax preparers will not do this job for less than $1500. the tax prep is actually the easy part. it's putting together all the records that's a PITA

sure, why not. just ask for everything back and take your business elsewhere.

of course you can. we usually have something like that ready within a week if everything we need is given to us.

thank you for the replies.
we handed our stuff to the accountant early March. we know it is not an easy task..
even so, last year we gave a bookkeeper all of our stuff to organize and give to the accountant and she still had to file an extension and did not give our taxes back until October ( she put us the the bottom of the barrel b.c she took care of the quarterly taxes for other clients)

Yes you can - since she has the stuff since March I would say if I can't have my return by the end of next week give me my information back I am going elsewhere. It shouldn't take that long if she has all of the information.

I agree.
and I know someone who can have it done pretty quickly for a good price.
