Tax Question for all new home owners

We just closed on our house 2 months ago, I just called the town for a duplicate copy of the tax bill since the mortgage company pays our taxes. I was VERY SHOCKED to see the increase from the true taxes we were told about at closing. Did this happen to anyone else? What is the normal range that taxes go up a year. I would of never bought my house if I knew my taxes would go UP THIS HIGH. We would never look at a house with taxes like this.

I will let you know next week - we haven't received our tax bill yet. Our 2007 tax payments were exactly what we were told they would be.

Based on the amount of increase that was stated in the paper, I'm not anticipating them going up substantially.
